Northeast Warehousing Systems Inc., a division of United Foods Corporation (www.unitedfoodscorp.com) is a leading importer, distributor and manufacturer of ingredients for the food and beverage, cosmetic and personal care, pharmaceutical and nutritional industries in the United States. It has been in business for over 35 years and its corporate office and facility located in East Brunswick, New Jersey. Currently, we are seeking qualified candidates to apply for the position of Warehouse Foreman/EHS Assistant responsible for Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) conditions, practices and compliance at our facility in East Brunswick, NJ.
Requirements:
- Habitually organized, neat and clean
- High School or GED Diploma, Valid New Jersey Driver License, U.S. Green Card or U.S. Citizen
- Must be bilingual English and Spanish (both native or near-native level).
- Must be able to speak, read and understand documentation in English and be able to translate EHS related documents from English to Spanish.
- Excellent health, physically capable of 8-hour manual labor including lifting 50 to 55 pound bags and cartons
- Well disciplined, self-starter, responsible, dependable and ability to work under pressure and deadlines
- Day shift 8:00 a.m. to 5: 00 p.m. with 1 hour lunch break
- Must be able to pass drug test (legally prohibited substances) and background checks.
- Must have a solid work history in a warehouse environment, preferably 5 to 10 years of experience in shipping and receiving and food processing and packaging machinery operating experience.
- Must have prior forklift operating experience and have enough safe driving skills to be certified by our company.
Responsibilities Include the following:
Part 1 – Warehouse Work:
- Manually unloading bags and/or boxes and placing them on pallets
- Placing pallets of products on designated locations throughout the warehouse using a sit-down forklift.
- Labeling products with names and batch/lot numbers
- Palletizing and stretch-wrapping pallets of products
- Checking products against production schedules to ensure accuracy.
- Loading pallets with products onto trucks for delivery to customers
- Operating our grinding and packaging machines
- Operating tank mixers, pumps, filling and bag-closing machines
- Cleaning equipment, warehouse floors and other spaces when needed
- Other matters required by the Management from time to time
Part 2 – Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Practices:
- Assist the Company’s management in the design and implementation of policies, procedures and warehouse/factory floor measures to assure continuous (at any point of time and unannounced) “Audit-Ready” and “Inspection-Ready” state of compliance at the Company’s facilities with governmental EHS Standards and SOPs;
- Must have knowledge and experience in the areas of Environment, Health and Safety at workplaces whether involving warehouse storage and distribution and/or manufacturing/packaging operations.
- OSHA Compliance, Hazard Communication, EHS Regulations, GHS Labeling Requirements
- Checking products against production schedules to ensure accuracy.
- Loading pallets with products onto trucks for delivery to customers
- Loading Dock Inspection, Pre-Loading and After Loading Truck Trailer Inspection, and Food Safety Transportation Inspection according to our Company’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Monitoring warehouse employees on OSHA compliance, forklift and equipment safety, electrical safety, lock out tag out, chemical handling safety, personal protective equipment, and warehouse security and safety
- GHS labeling, Hazardous Materials handling and labeling, Food Defense and Site Security, Fire Safety, and other matters.
- Responsible for record keeping, and assist the management in developing and updating manuals for EHS programs (including but not limited to): OSHA, DOT, EPA, NJ EPA, FDA, USDA, DHS, Local Emergency Planning Coordinators, Local Fire Department, Municipal/Township Ordinances
- Assist in developing and implementing programs and policies for food defense and site security
- Assist in develop training materials, policies, and procedures for maintaining workplace safety in the areas including but not limited to: shipping and receiving, truck and trailer safety, warehouse and production room safety including but not limited OHSA compliance, workers protection, loading dock safety, driver safety, forklift safety, fire safety, electrical safety, chemical safety, etc.;
- Assist in develop and implementing programs and policies for monitoring, controlling, and preventing chemical, physical, and biological hazards at the facility.
